Fall 2019 Professional Development Sessions

During the Fall 2019 semester, Sponsored Programs is collaborating with the Faculty Center on Teaching and Learning (FCT&L) to offer professional development sessions through the Teaching and Learning Innovation series.  All faculty and staff are welcome to attend.  The FCT&L will post annoncements and registration links in EKU Today prior to each session.  

New Research Enhancement Grant Program

The Research Enhancement Grant (REG) program is a new opportunity for the University to support faculty who have previously secured external funding awards and to facilitate the obtainment of additional awards. The program will initially be piloted for a period of five years, subject to funding availability on an annual basis.

National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Stipends Internal Competition

The National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Stipends program supports individuals pursuing advanced research that is of value to scholars and general audiences in the humanities.

Survey Results: Faculty and Staff Engagement in Sponsored Projects

In Spring 2019, Sponsored Programs administered a survey with the intention of collecting data about faculty and staff engagement in externally-sponsored projects.  Our goal with this survey was to inform decisions about ways in which the University can better support faculty and staff in their pursuits of external funding and in their management of externally-funded awards.

Estimated Fringe Benefits Rates for FY 2020

While uncertainty remains, revised estimated fringe benefits rates for FY 2020 are now available.  Effective immediately, the rates below must be used for all proposed budgets with salaries and wages to be paid for work performed on or after July 1, 2019. 

New Facilities and Administrative (F&A) Costs Rates Effective July 1, 2019

EKU has received notification of new Facilities and Administrative (F&A) costs (also referred to as indirect costs) rates for the period of July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2023 or until amended.  Effective immediately, the revised rates must be used for all sponsored project proposals with anticipated start dates on or after July 1, 2019.

Application Forms Now Available for Revised Human Research Subjects Regulations

Revisions to the federal policy governing the use of human research subjects went into effect on Monday, January 21, 2019. All studies involving human subjects initially reviewed as of this date are required to follow the revised policy.

Human Subjects Research Regulations Update and Temporary Freeze on Applications

After several years in development and multiple extensions for implementation, revisions to the Federal policy governing the use of human research subjects (The Common Rule) are set to go into effect on January 21, 2019.  All protocols reviewed as of this date will be required to follow the revised policy, which can be read in full
